Description | This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to communicate with competitors, officials and other motorsport personnel, using flags and other signalling methods. It requires the ability to observe race and track conditions and correctly apply signalling conventions to communicate warnings, alerts and other information.Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements may apply to this unit in some jurisdictions. Users are advised to check with the relevant regulatory authority. | ||

Learning Outcomes and Application | This unit applies to individuals who undertake the duties of a flag marshal or equivalent in a motorsport event, including practice sessions. While all officials are required to understand the meaning of flags and signals, it is the responsibility of the flag marshal to know when and how to use flags in accordance with motorsport event rules and regulations. | ||
